So why study the impact of touch screen devices on the low vision and blind community?
Well, in short there are several reasons:
First, touch screen devices are becoming more and more mainstream and prevalent in daily life to the point that the average person is likely to encounter some form of touch screen device if not on a daily basis, then weekly or monthly basis.
Second, varying degrees of visual impairment and blindness are expected to increase rapidly within the next 20 years.
And lastly, one of the researchers is legally blind. This is a topic of great interest and passion to this researcher and subsequently became the passion of all the researchers.
So, with this study we wish to study the impact, positive or negative, of touch screen devices on the low vision and blind community within the United States. We hope that by making our survey available on-line through this site and others, that we can recieve feedback from a large number of people from across the United States.
